Edited by: Dani SP on 12/01/2009 22:02:09 I am a total noob, but one of the things I've LEARNT (lol) is that learning skills should be maxed out as long as you want to play this game in the long-term. And that means, around 3-4 years according to someone else' calculations. Seems reasonable.
I've had a discussion with a mate, I stick to this idea of maxing out them all AT FIRST, while he is trying to convince me that its stupid to train learn skills if EVEMON doesnt tell you to do so. In other words, he plans some skills (lets say, he plans to drive a Hulk) and Evemon tells him to train Spatial Awaraness from level 2 to 3... so he does it and then trains the Hulk.
Dude... I have tried that oh-so-beloved tool called Evemon and yes it can be useful, but please use your own brain over anything else (apart from, its more satisfactory to use your own brain instead of following some software generated orders. Yes even if you get wrong). I mean, the learning skills will raise your attributes for ever and ever, the benefits of raising them are not only for your 1-month-hulk-plan, but for EVERYTIME on your Eve Online existance. This means, it might not be profitable to train Spatial Awaraness from III to IV in order to get the Hulk, but HELL YEAH it will be profitable for all the ships you will wanna drive.
And as logic tells to anyone with enough brain, these learning skills should be maxed out at first. It's kinda ridiculous someone who is 1 year old has got all his attributes under 20...
As I stated, I am just a noob (45 days old) but hecks, I've played several trials. Usually I ended up at 1.050.000 skill points or so. The last time (my character) I decided to train just learn skills and guess what, I ended the trial with 1.220.000 SP. This means, considering a newbie starts with 800.000 SP, you get about TWICE the SP in 15 days using this method (character gained 420k SP instead of 250k)
Finally... this is a game and you should enjoy it. Surely sticking to learn skills for 2 months would drive you crazy. Train some useful stuff in between, but dont let the time goes on before maxing out them all. And yes I include the advanced ones to level V unless you are a casual player who will play less than a year.
